#ForThe343 is a nationwide movement inviting every American to help finish the heroic climb of the 343 FDNY firefighters who gave their lives on 9/11. Join an Official 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb or climb one or more flights anywhere, share your tribute, and challenge three others to honor the 343 and every firefighter who has made the ultimate sacrifice.
›Why is it called “For the 343”?
On September 11, 2001, 343 FDNY firefighters climbed the World Trade Center towers to save others and never came home. For the 343 carries their courage forward while honoring every firefighter who has made the ultimate sacrifice.
›Why is this happening now?
The 25th anniversary of 9/11 is a powerful moment for every generation to come together and honor the 343. It turns remembrance into a meaningful action anyone can take.
›Who can participate?
Everyone. Individuals, families, firefighters, schools, businesses, organizations, and communities are all invited.
›What is the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation?
Established by Congress in 1992, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation honors America’s fallen firefighters and supports their families and colleagues. It also leads programs to help reduce firefighter deaths and injuries.

›How do I participate?
Visit ForThe343.org and Climb one flight, share your tribute and count your flights, and challenge three others. If there is an Official 9/11 Stair climb near you, join that too.
›Why climb one flight?
For the first time, Americans nationwide are being invited to climb one flight together as part of a national movement to help finish the heroic climb of the 343. Every step counts.
›Do I have to climb all 110 stories?
No. Climb one or more flights, even all 110 if you choose. Every flight is a meaningful act of remembrance.
›What if I cannot climb?
Walk, run, bike, roll, share a memory of 9/11, thank your local fire department, honor a firefighter, or donate. Every tribute matters.
›Where can I find an Official 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb?
Visit ForThe343.org and select Find a Climb Near Me. More than 40 Official 9/11 Memorial Stair Climbs are taking place across the country.
›How is participation counted?
At ForThe343.org/Honor, enter the number of flights you climbed and where you climbed them. Your flights are added to the national total and displayed on an interactive map.

›How can I share my tribute?
From the CLIMB ONE FLIGHT NOW experience, share directly from your phone to major social media platforms, or send your tribute by text or email. Challenge three others to participate and help keep the movement growing using #ForThe343.

Donations & Privacy
›Where do donations go?
Donations support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s work to honor fallen firefighters, support Fire Hero Families, and make the fire service safer through education and prevention.

No. Participation is free, and donations are optional.

No. Your photo or video stays on your device and is never uploaded or stored by the experience.
